ABORIGINAL ART
Many Aborigines were outstanding artists. Thousands of cave and rock paintings can be seen all over Australia. It is believed that Aboriginal Art is the oldest continuing Art tradition in the world.

Aboriginal Art consists of bark painting, sculpture, weaving rock and cave painting and engraving.
Aboriginal Art is divided into two distinct areas - Urban and Traditional Art
TRADITIONAL ART
This type of art depicts the old stories of the Aborigines , especially stories that involved Dreamtime.
Painting also showed everyday scenes such as hunting and collecting food.

URBAN ART
Urban Art does not relate to Dreamtime or any other aboriginal traditions. Instead it has a more modern day Western Culture.

Brushes were made from twigs and the main colour were black, red, white and yellow. The colours were obtained from clays mixed with plants.
