Religion

Aborigines were very Religious people. They believed the world began a long time ago in a time called Dreamtime. In the Dreamtime their ancestors created the world and taught them how to live. Dreamtime ancestors were animals, some were plants and some were people.

Burial customs  varied from group to group. In many religions they buried their dead in the ground. In other areas they placed the dead body on a platform or in a tree and left it there to decay.

After someone died they believed the spirit of the dead person went to a sacred watering hole or to the land of the dead.
