Cúchulainn and Aoife (from the isle of Scathach) had a son together. However, Aoife kept the news of the child's birth from Cúchulainn. She named the boy Conladh. aoife taught him to be a great warrior.
As he grew older, Conladh decided to find out more about his father. Aoife told him that Cúchulainn, a hero from Ireland, was his father. Conladh wanted to go to Ireland to find him. Before he went however, Aoife put a 'geasa' on him. A geasa was a type of spell that women could put on men in Celtic times. Conladh was forbidden to refuse a challenge to a fight, or to tell anyone his name or who his parents were.
When he arrived in Ulster, Conladh was met by the warrior, Conall. Conall asked him his name and his lineage, which was the custom. Conladh could not answer because of the geasa. Because he refused to answer, Conall had to challenge the boy to a duel. all the other Ulster heros gathered to watch. Conall lost.
Conladh identified himself to his father in his last dying breath. Cúchulainn was mad with grief!
