Cúchulainn is a legend. He is said to have lived about 90 years befor the coming od Christ. However the stories of Cúchulainn were not written down until after the sixth century. Until then the stories were passed on by word of mouth. Can you see any disadvantages with this method of recording?
When people pass on stories by word of mouth, they tend to add on bits and pieces to make the story seem mor exciting. Sometimes they put their own slant on things. For example, if someone from Connaught was telling the story of the Táin, they would tell it in such a way that Cúchulainn was a cheater by coming up behind Méabh's army and killing her soldiers. However if someone from Ulster told the same story, they would tell it so that it seemed that Cúchulainn was very clever for going behind the army to kill they soldiers one by one.
So what you have to do is decide which parts of the story of Cúchulainn have been exaggerated or changed and which parts really happened!
