A male goat that has been neutered is known as a wether.

A doe usually carries her kids for about 150 days. It can vary several days each way. Kids are usually "dropped", as the term goes, from late February through April or early May.

Approximately 2 kids are born per doe.

Favourite foods:

brush, grass, tree leaves, grain and rough plants.

Goats will also destroy roses and red cedars.

They like to munch on clothes from clotheslines, much to their owners torment and disgust! Even an old pair of shoes would not be safe!!

Goats have a special "4-compartment stomach".

Goats have to be sheared in the Spring/Summer and may need extra shelter after this because they do not have a layer of fat as sheep do to keep them warm.

Goats can be pastured with sheep and cattle, since each species has different preferences.
