The Safe Cross Code

When we cross the road we must remember the Safe Cross Code:

1 Look for a safe place to cross looking eyes
2 Stop and wait neat the edge of the path stopping at edge of foothpath
3 Look all around and listen for traffic listening ear  
4 If traffic is coming let it pass. Look all around again traffic
5 When there is no traffic near walk straight across the road man walking across the road
6 Keep watching and listening for traffic as you pass looking eyes& listening ear

Safe Places to Cross the Road

Zebra Crossings
A zebra crossing is marked by yellow flashing beacons. The actual crossing area is marked by black and white "zebra" stripes

Pedestrian Lights

Pedestrian Lights
Pedestrian lights comprise a set of traffic lights for drivers and a set of light signals for pedestrians. Usually there is a push button for pedestrians which will initiate a change in the traffic lights to red.
Pedestrians should cross with care when the GREEN LIGHT is showing.

You should never cross the road at the following places
1 At a corner or bend in the road
2

Near the brow of a hill

3 Near parked vehicles
4 Where guardrails are provided along the footpaths

Rules for riding in Cars

When we are riding in cars there are certain rules which we must follow:

Seatbelts must be worn at all times

dog leaning out car window
Never lean or wave out of the window, or throw or hang anything out

rear view mirror
Do not block the drivers view in the mirror

Only open doors or windows if it is safe
5 door handle Keep hands away from the door handles while the car is moving

When you get in or out of the car, use the door on the footpath side. Only get out when you are sure it is safe
